We find our selves immersed in sunshine and summer lurking just around the corner. there is no better way to kicking off the summer season celebrating the upcoming holiday with simple gathering with friends + family.

One again we collaborated with our fabulous neighbors at square one cafe to bring you yet another post for our dinner series. A big thanks to brenna with flying 3k photography for capturing all the beautiful details.

We used traditionally bright hued colors for our Cinco de Mayo celebration accented with earth tone of terra cotta vessels and simply strung papel picado in the spirit of the holiday. We wanted to round out the intimate tablescape with rich colors + textures using garden roses, anemone, pin cushions, ranunculus and locally grown poppies (our fav!) with cut mexican beer bottles candles nestled throughout

Our signature drinks of traditional lime margaritas + mexican beer set the tone for this cinco de mayo dinner. You can have a little fun by Sweeten it up a bit… adding fresh fruit purees like mango or strawberry; or go crazy by adding cucumber, prickly pear, or even jalapeños to wow your guests.

For dinner, Lindsay with Square One Cafe,went with chicken fajitas rolled in flour tortillas. Mini crispy ground beef tacos topped with cilantro, onions, and limes. She suggested oou can make mini tacos just by cutting tortillas with a simple cookie cutter-how fun. She also included Mexican street tacos with their famous 12 hour pulled pork stuffed in white corn tortillas with all of the fixins’. But, to top it all off, they grilled up some fresh, sweet, corn on the cob and slathered it with Mexican crema , queso fresco, chili powder, and cayenne pepper. And of course served all of this with corn chips with pico de gallo, tomatillo salsa, roasted corn and black bean salsa, and our handmade guacamole.

This past February we were so excited to have brought a concept for an upcoming editorial to life. This shoot was incredible…. I melt every time I look through the photos. And looking through these photos, I could do over and over again. It would never get old. Kelly and Brendon of Nine Photography killed it! This shoot took place at LLELA, a little hiden gem just outside our back door. We are very excited to share a little sneak peak at this upcoming project.

As the holiday of love quickly approaches all thoughts turn to pink, red, and white! We decided to glam it up a little by adding hints of gold accents to a favorite on the scene… the chevron pattern. Gorgeous garden roses, sweet pink ranunculus and astilbe adorn the intimate table setting in pink depression glass + half dipped 24k gold bottles. Champagne is the drink of choice on this special day and we added a sweet touch by serving pink champagne. Why not open something special for just the two of you to share?

So enough about all the pretty parts…lets take a look at the menu! Square One Cafe created a delectable pairing of courses. To start, they served a smoked salmon canapé on pumpernickel toast. A mini ravioli with half marinara sauce and half garlic cream sauce was next, handmade and oh so special in the shape of a heart. A strawberry and arugula salad topped with Asiago cheese and a special citrus poppy seed vinaigrette was a nice light touch before the main entree. A petite filet with a sweet potato haystack and creamy bleu cheese drizzle, stole the show, accompanied by mini marinated mushroom skewers, and roasted baby vegetables. A light sweet treat ended the night with special Valentine macaroons by sugar b’s bakeryand fresh berries.

i can remember the day that diana came into the studio and we began do discuss her wedding details… so much fun! i simply loved working with this couple…. both with a great flair for the arts and all things creative! it was amazing to see how each and every detail was brought to life by the two of them from customized hanging banners, life-sized replica of their wedding invitation to the hand stamped cake pop stands with their faces… so many personalized details. One word sums it up A M A Z I N G! and how fortunate are we that the ever so talented kelli and brendan with nine photography capture all the details!

We recognize that there is something about a table shared by friends, not just weddings or annual soiree’s. We feel entertaining should be simple, uncomplicated and natural. There is nothing greater than dining together… you don’t need weeks of planning, seating charts or name cards. when planning an intimate dinner set the stage with simple floral, great food and most of all A M A Z I N G company. its winter and there’s nothing better than gathering your family + friends for a special occasion. we had so much fun working with our suitemates at grit + gold for this winter inspired wedding. the shoot’s setting and feel was winter woodsy. touches of antlers + birch can be found throughout from stationery and centerpieces, to the unbelievably beautifully fun antler and floral head piece. The sweet treats were the perfect feel of handmade goodness that evokes the feeling of “home”.

We love the mark new beginnings: fresh inspiration, new things on the horizon, growth + renewal. For us, 2012 was a year of inspiration, exploration, and creativity.
